Speed & Reliability
Sending files through email work as long as they are short (usually MIDI or MP3s).  Many servers reject large files which is why uploading to a website is the best option when it comes to working remotely with a recording studio.  In addition, it is much quicker, cheaper, and more reliable than shipping the tracks.

Security
Emails are not secure.  They go through several networks before reaching your inbox (if at all).  They could at any time be intercepted, but in our password protected site, your music is safer.
